Of Course Titus Would Channel Beyoncé in this Teaser

first_img Coming hot off her amazing performance at the Grammy’s last night, Beyoncé hit the streets of New York to recreate some of her Lemonade album and–oh wait that’s Titus. Sorry.Netflix released its first teaser trailer for the third season of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt on Monday by channeling Beyoncé and smashing some truck windows. The teaser stars character Titus Andromedon, played by Titus Burgess, as he recreates glimpses of “Sorry” and “Hold Up” from Lemonade. In the short 30-second clip, he seems possessed by the queen’s spirit, prancing down Brooklyn with a baseball bat. He seems to be singing about Michael (or Mikey, as he is called), who was his boyfriend in season two, before smashing some truck windows. Mikey spots him, and the teaser ends.Considering how the two left off at the end of season two–with Titus taking a huge risk and leaving his life with Mikey to perform on a cruise–we have to wonder what happened in between seasons. Knowing Titus, he returned to New York and didn’t tell his partner, but that’s just speculation. There’s a lot to look forward to in the upcoming season. Besides Titus leaving on his life-changing cruise (supposedly), Kimmy (Ellie Kemper) made some huge strides psychologically. The bulk of season two was our titular heroine dealing with post-traumatic stress stemming from that whole being kept in an underground bunker for 15 years thing. Just as she made amends with her mother, who she felt had abandoned her, she gets a call from her captor, The Reverend, who said they needed to get a divorce. On the other side of things, Jacqueline (Jane Krakowski) has teamed up with her lawyer boyfriend to take down the Washington Redskins (don’t ask). Finally, Lillian (Carol Kane) receives a visit from a man who suggested she run for a political position in her city since she spent the bulk of the season dealing with gentrification.Look, this show is hard to explain without getting into the sheer amount of specifics that have filled the plot and that have sidelined the characters from being mentally stable, comfortable people. Despite Kimmy being the main character, all of the main cast, and a lot of the supporting cast have their own issues to deal with and have to learn to cope with the harsh realities of existence.Just watch it. It’s fun, despite how I just described it.Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt returns to Netflix on May 19.
