Hazard on Chelseas bounce back ability

first_imgChelsea’s unbeaten run at home came to an abrupt end on Saturday afternoon against Leicester City, and Eden Hazard believes the team can recover from the defeat. The Foxes sealed three points for the first time in over 18 years at the Bridge thanks to the solitary strike from Jamie Vardy, despite Chelsea’s dominance. However, Belgian skipper reflected on the loss prior to the Hornets clash.“I think I can do better but that is football, sometimes yes, sometimes not,’ said Hazard about his narrow miss. ‘I will try to score next game.“We just missed the shot on the goal, that is it. We hit the woodwork twice, their goalkeeper made some great saves, we were unlucky, but I keep the positives in our heads and now we move forward and try to win game after game.’Jose Mourinho is sold on Lampard succeeding at Chelsea Tomás Pavel Ibarra Meda – September 14, 2019 Jose Mourinho wanted to give his two cents on Frank Lampard’s odds as the new Chelsea FC manager, he thinks he will succeed. There really…Hazard is not startled by the loss to a mid-table side at the Bridge, especially on a day when Crystal Palace won away at champions Manchester City and agrees it is all about the response now.“We knew it before that in the Premier League there is no easy game,’ he told the club’s site. ‘Every game is hard and when you are unlucky you can lose.“They [Leicester] have the players. Vardy scored and he is a fantastic striker, their goalkeeper is a fantastic goalkeeper so they know what to do. We should do better but in the end, they have three points and we have zero. We just need to look forward.“We lost against Wolverhampton and we responded in a good way [by beating Man City] so we know what to do.”last_img read more

Doctorate without a degree

first_imgAnup Kumar Saha claims to have a full-fledged PhD degree, when in actuality he is still a PhD student yet to finish his course, studying at a university in UK. A teacher of Dhaka University’s accounting and information department, Anup has used his ‘degree’ for a promotion and an appointment in two different institutions.Anup lied about his PhD degree during his appointment at Dhaka University (DU) and has been working as an assistant professor there for the last two and a half months.Anup had denied the accusation and claimed that he had submitted all required documents for his appointment and promotion.Prothom Alo found that Anup Kumar had identified himself as a PhD holder while working in Jagannath University as well. He was promoted as an associate professor there earlier this year. He was then appointed as an assistant professor in DU on 8 October.Anup claimed to be a PhD holder to put himself at an advantage during recruitment and promotion. The role of other persons involved in the recruitment and promotion is also dubious. Anup enrolled into the accounting department of UK’s Durham University in 2013. His name was in the 15th position on the student list of the university website. In the section titled ‘the award of degree’ of Durham’s website, it is said “students must upload the e-copy of their PhD thesis on the website and thus they will be eligible to participate in the congregation process”. The website further clarifies, despite submitting the thesis and other documents, students will not be considered as PhD holder without congregation. The congregation is held twice a year, on 8 June and 15 December. When asked, Anup told Prothom Alo that he took part in the congregation ceremony in June and obtained his PhD certificate. When it was pointed out that the website showed him as a student, Anup said “I have noticed that too. I will send an e-mail to the authorities to update the information.”Prothom Alo found Anup’s claim to be false as the authorities updated the website on 14 December. Furthermore, he uploaded the synopsis of his thesis on 6 October. According to that, his congregation is still under process. There were six teachers on the committee for promoting Anup in at Jagannath University and five teachers on the recruiting committee of DU. The committees were supposed to verify his documents.Mohammed Ali Noor, the chairman of Jagannath University’s accounting and information systems department, told Prothom Alo, Anup had submitted his PhD certificate. But Prothom Alo found that Anup Kumar had not submitted any such document.Mamtaz Uddin Ahmad was one of the members of the recruitment board in DU. He told Prothom Alo, “Anup profiled himself as a PhD holder in his application.”Mamtaz Uddin said, he could not remember whether Anup had submitted the certificate or not. This could be checked at the university’s administration building. However, Prothom Alo found that Anup did not submit any certificate. He submitted a photocopy with Durham’s logo and dated 6 October, written on it “this candidate satisfies the examiners and will be selected for congregation”.Anup was promoted in Jagannath University in April and later appointed in DU on 28 October. Deputy registrar of DU, Golam Sarwar Bhuiyan, told Prothom Alo that they had contacted the Jagannath University authorities in this regard. It was discovered he hadn’t submitted any certificate there either. When asked how Anup got appointment as a PhD holder, Golam Sarwar replied, “That is the responsibility of the recruiting board, not ours.”Nine candidates had applied for the post of assistant professor earlier. A circular was then published mentioning that PhD holders would be prioritised for the post. Anup was the only candidate reportedly having these credentials and therefore was directly appointed for the post.Abdul Hakim of the accounting department said the department’s disciplinary committee had taken up the issue.”We are investigating the matter” he added.last_img read more
