But were we expecting this good?So far the 2014 team is not disappointing. Currently, the Crusader girls have 12 state elite times/distances, according to various statewide track tallies of state leaders. This comes after the Lady Dukes dominated the Clearwater Invitational Friday. Wellington won Friday’s meet with 141 points. Garden Plain was a distant second with 114. The boys came in fifth with 54 points, buoyed by two first place finishes by Colin Reichenberger in the 110 and 300 meter hurdles.  See individual results here: Clearwater track results 2014Please remember, track state lists are subjective during this point of the season, because not all track recordings are given to state sports websites like the Catch-it Kansas or Varsity Kansas websites. But it does indicate just how solid this year’s Lady Dukes track team is and what kind of potential the girls have going into May. Hometown people can see this team perform this Friday at the Wellington Invitational starting at 3:15 p.m.Currently, using times on the track lists, Wellington would place in 11 events if the state track meet was held today. That’s enough to win state championships, or at least get the Crusaders finishing in the elite (see state comparisons below):Both the 4×100 and 4×400 relay teams are in the elite status. The 4×100 meter relay team is fifth across the state currently with a 51.26 time. The team consists of Cajen Shore, Wright, Jaedyn Ledesma, and Leah Nelson. The 4×400 relay team is fourth statewide with a 4:14.67 time. That team consists of Shore, Schettler, Dietra Sober and Nelson. On Friday, Wellington won eight of the 18 events ran in Clearwater of the 11 teams at the event. On the boys side, Reichenberger broke his own record in the 300-meter hurdles, turning in a 40.13 time. He is trailing Gunnar Karr of Paola, who has a 39.62 time.He is also second in the 110 hurdles with a 14.76 time, trailing the same Paola hurdler. 100 metersJaycee Schettlereighth12.734-AprDevin CosperCoffeyville12 Wellington girlsClass 4A Close Forgot password?
