(PHOTOS/FUFA)CECAFA U15 ChampionshipsUganda 3-0 EthiopiaAsmara International Stadium, EritreaSaturday, 17-08-2019The Uganda U15 National team got off to a winning start at the on-going CECAFA Championships in Eritrea.In the game played at the Asmara International Stadium, Uganda beat Ethiopia 3-0 in their group B encounter.Devis Ogwal scored in either half while Abasi Kyeyune added another in the convincing victory for the Jackson Magera coached side.Winger Devis Ogwal gave Uganda an early lead, nodding in header offf a Kaddu Caros free-Kick.The first half ended 1-0, with the Ethiopians threatening to level matters but found the Uganda back-line commanded by team captain Vincent Muleme and Peter Gya, impenetrable.Uganda came back in the second half with a view of killing off the game and that is what they did.Midfielder Travis Mutyaba found Abasi Kyeyune well positioned in the goal area to make it 2-0.Three minutes later, Ogwal registered his second goal of the game and put the result beyond doubt.It was a good start for Uganda, who will only take a two-day break before meeting rivals Tanzania in the second game.“We had a bright start and the opening 20 minutes were wonderful for us, but i dont know what happened to them in the closing stages of the first half, noted head coach Jackson Magera.“Our luck of concentration toward the end of the opening half gave the Ethiopians a chance to enjoy possession but thank God we did not concede.“However, we came back in the second to register this good start and saw off the challenge in the end.”Magera who is also the head coach of KCCA FC Junior Team said that their focus now shifts to the next game.“We are going to prepare for the second game because our target is to go all the way.”The Uganda team that started against Ethiopia.His Ehtiopian counterpart Betiglu Befikadu congratulated Uganda upon a good start.In the opening game, Burundi beat hosts Eritrea 2-1 in a match that officiated by Uganda’s William Oloya.Comments last_img
