NFL Teams Could Reportedly ‘Kick Tires’ On Notre Dame’s Brian Kelly

(Photo by Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images)In the decade he’s been at Notre Dame, Brian Kelly has attracted the attention of NFL teams on more than one occasion. Ultimately, he’s stayed put.Could the professional ranks come calling for Kelly again? One NFL insider thinks it is a legit possibility.Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, citing a discussion with a league scout, referred to Kelly as “underrated” and wondered if he could attract NFL attention once again. He’s in his 10th year at Notre Dame now. He’s a good bet to post his fifth 10-win season, and third straight. In the 16 years before his arrival, the Irish had just two 10-win campaigns. At the very least, he’s the best coach in South Bend since Lou Holtz. And I wonder if NFL teams kick tires on him again—despite the fact that some think he’s too much of a drill sergeant for the league.Kelly’s most noteworthy dalliance with the NFL came in 2013 when he spoke with the Philadelphia Eagles. Philly wound up hiring Chip Kelly. Kelly’s name has also been linked to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Chicago Bears in the past. When he was mentioned in conjunction with the Bears’ opening in 2018, Kelly said coaching in the NFL “doesn’t appeal” to him.Things could always change. For the time being, Kelly will look to prepare his 10th-ranked Fighting Irish for a home game against Bowling Green this Saturday.October is a challenging month for Notre Dame, with rivalry games against USC and Michigan in the coming weeks.last_img read more

The focus is on combining A&K’s expertise in planning seamless expeditions with more in-depth land touring than found on traditional cruises. “A sense of discovery was our guiding inspiration when searching for experiences along the coast of Italy as we brainstormed ideas for this new itinerary,” explains Bob Simpson, Abercrombie & Kent’s Vice President, Expedition Cruising. “Our research team spent time in working ports and little-known locales to develop the most rewarding shore excursions, as well as find expert local guides who serve as cultural interpreters. We complement these onshore experiences with onboard briefings by our Expedition Staff to provide the historical context needed to understand the significance of these places.” A&K offers a choice of included shore excursions each day, ranging from outdoor adventures to discussions of history, art and architecture; as well as hands-on experiences and tastings at local restaurants and vineyards.  Active adventures include hiking or taking a 4 x 4 excursion on Mount Etna and rowing the canals of Venice.  Walking tours reveal how the art and architecture of Palermo and Florence reflected the revival of interest in classical learning against a backdrop of political stability and growing prosperity.
